Rather than an incomplete technical
catalogue illustrated with sophisticated
but outdated apparatuses;
rather than a long but incomplete
inventory with inadequate schematics;
we preferred to present you with some
short stories of some daring ideas and
possible solutions
Your ideas interest us for, with these,
we could propose a made-to-measure
solution using the most elegant and
advanced techniques and materials.
Your idea is unique
and so will be the solution.
The architect rolls the plans over the
chart table; the meeting has finished.
The launch of your new schooner - a
folly, a rare 1915 completely renovated
beauty - will not be delayed.
While the shipyard’s Zodiac zooms
away, a discrete vibrating alarm starts
the familiar melody of Night in Tunisia
and this completes your good mood.
You had programmed this Charlie Parker
version to signal that, in the port hull, the
hamman had reached its ideal humidity
level and temperature.
Soon after arriving, you are immersed
in the LED bluish-tinted vapour - the lights
programmed to slowly dim for total comfort
while Pink Floyd covers the gentle
hum of the winch motor.
Under reduced sails, the catamaran
leaves the bay for sea.

At dawn, automatic sprinkler heads
emerge silently from their hiding places
and water the lawn. In the low-angled
first rays of light, it is Versailles just
outside your windows.
The flowerbeds have their specific
needs and according to the seasons.
For some, a drop-by-drop watering is
programmed while others need a more
specific, heavier watering. All is regulated
by a central system connected to
the local weather station. If it rains in
the night, rainwater is otherwise stored
for drier days.
You can directly intervene in these
impressive “water games” should you
desire. Your alarm turns on the plasma
monitor in your bedroom and you see
in 3D the scenes from the cameras
positioned around your property and all
to the music of Ravel.
Leon is a nine-year old cat with
russet-red fur. He is a stay-at-home and
affectionate type adored by the kids. In
the garden he chases imaginary prey
but always returns to find his feed bowl
at the right level.
The biometric microchip integrated in
his collar not only opens his cat-flap but
also assures his water bowl is filled.
Although a cat is independent, you
can control his habits from your mobile
phone and with a few quick key-ins,
can modify the parameters even to
encourage it to again go outside to
play in the crazy flowers and magic
underwood and help keep his feline
form and his fur soft and silky.
The gate is at the end of a road lined
with statuesque chestnut trees. It recognizes
the car. The gate opens when
you return from your trip and also then
closes gently behind you.
When you come back from your daily
bike ride, the gate knows this and so
only half opens, sufficient enough for
you to pass without slowing down from
your sprint.
The system records your time and
sends a text to your phone with your
overall time and heart rate.
The sound of an old gate squeaking
as the gate opens and shuts is discreetly
heard from two loudspeakers integrated
into the pillars.
Just for your pleasure.
The pool stands alone and quiet.
The morning’s early light glistens on the
surface of the crystal-clear water. The
management of the delicate balance
between the pool and the green regeneration
pond; the water and pH levels;
the pumps and flows; the periodic,
automated cleanings; are all ensured by
a programmed system.
On the touch-screen in the bungalow,
you choose the sequences of subtle lighting
and sound environments for this evening’s
reception. The program will switch
them on thirty minutes before sunset
thanks to the GPS coupled to the server.
But looking out now at the water,
you’re impatient to launch your remotecontrolled,
scale-model, vintage “Riva”
you received for your birthday.
Under the stars above, she sits there
anchored peacefully in the middle of
the lagoon. Her circle of underwater
floodlights dresses her as if in a soft,
turquoise tutu.
With just a few simple touches of your
extra thin watch, her flybridge starts to
open, the giant screen emerges silently
from its secure hiding place as does the
full-HD projector now starting to warm
up. In open-air cinema mode, images
appear on the screen: the video of that
afternoon’s jet-ski adventure that you
cleverly had edited before dinner.
To the familiar theme of Baywatch,
your film is greeted with laughter and
applause. It encourages you to select
your main film of the night: a restored
version of Some like it hot for all to see
and enjoy.

''Yacht''
The signal slips the hydraulic jacks
into action and the hardtop is raised;
the windows also rise discreetly and
carefully to protect your guests from the
forecasted tropical rain. Linked to the
weather bulletins, the central server now
transforms the sun deck into a protected,
panoramic-screened living room.
The red Swiss knife that stays with you
always works also as your remote control.
With a touch, the light changes to
recreate the atmosphere of a New York
ballroom from the 1940s. The first few
notes of Tommy Dorsey’s Song of India
seduce the couples with its irresistible
groove.
The jukebox, with more than 4000
song titles, is linked to the hi-fi and lighting
systems so that each song can have it’s
own unique mix of light and sound.
The latest David Guetta propels you to
the dance floor of Berlin’s Berghain.
The web of white LED lights creates
what appears to be a triangle on the
giant cedar in the grounds. As night
falls, the lights illuminate the outline of a
beautiful Christmas tree.
Blue halogen lights create the illusion
of a snow-covered ground. The house
looks as if it were from a giant advent
calendar.
Created just for the occasion, three
images in full resolution are synchronized
onto the facade of the house and change
with the days. The film is coupled to
the house’s automated system and takes
into consideration the external conditions
in order to control this subtle light show.
The movement detectors and the light
and sound server create the effect so
that the more one approaches the tree,
the more luminous it becomes.
And when even closer, Bing Crosby
croons the strains of White Christmas.
Obviously it’s not quite the course
at Augusta but the use of the terrain is
optimal.
The 280-meter, par 4 dogleg to the
left is the main concern right now. The
drive is carefully controlled to keep it on
the fairway. Now the course crosses
the road.Should a vehicle approach, an
alarm will vibrate on the handle of your
seven iron.
The course is a “there-and-back” and
to give some variety, is modified each
time: the bunkers fill to become water
hazards, the holes change site and
telescopic flags emerge or are inserted
on impeccable greens.
The night course holds other surprises:
controlled by a GPS fixed to
your trolley, lighting precedes you and
accentuates the illusion of taking Amen
Corner one under.
One has the impression that it is the
crunching of the wheels on the gravel
that starts the garage door’s mechanism.
In fact, the transmitter from the
car kicks in and the automatic pilot
takes over and drives you safely to its
assigned place.
The balance between all is unperceiv-
able. The headlights die out gently
and the garage is bathed in a soft but
precise light.
The touch screen placed in the hall
displays an unread text message: the
friends who are coming for dinner are
running an hour late. With a simple
touch, the message is sent to the
kitchen.
One hour, hmm… just long enough to
for you to carefully open that Romanée
Conti ‘97 and let it breathe.
